Sweet Memories of an Endless Summer: A Dewey Beach-Inspired Bat Mitzvah

Summer 2023 came and went before we knew it, didn't it? Our family had a jam-packed schedule with trips to the beach and the mountains, summer camps, and pool days. It was busy and non-stop, but honestly, it was really enjoyable. Even though school started back up for us after Labor Day, I managed to squeeze in one last summer-related event at the end of September.

I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Lorin of Celebrations, LLC to recreate the classic Candy Kitchen Store look and feel you'd find on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The Bat Mitzvah's overall theme was "Endless Summer," paying tribute to the beloved Dewey and Rehoboth Beach areas. From the boardwalk-inspired food stalls to pastel pink and white striped beach umbrellas, and cozy beach chairs, we aimed to create an ambiance that transported everyone to the sun-soaked shores of Maryland's coastal gems.

An incredible team put in countless hours to bring this vision to life (you can find vendor details below). Every corner of the event space was thoughtfully branded with the guest of honor's logo and classic beach signage recognizable to any Marylander. There were arcade games for guests to enjoy, a photo booth, and beach-themed food throughout the night. Not to mention the fantastic entertainment provided by Washington Talent that kept over 70 teens and pre-teens dancing all night long.

The Candy Kitchen was the main focus for me, and I had the luxury of having a custom booth built by Revolution Event Design and Production for the occasion. We opted for simple and functional glassware to accommodate the excitement of 70+ teens and pre-teens. Needless to say, a candy table is always a hit at these events. Penny jars added to the store-like atmosphere, and white gable boxes with custom labels personalized the favor boxes for the guest of honor. While a typical candy kitchen doesn't offer cookies, we couldn't resist including some custom-themed cookies for the event. My go-to cookie vendor, The Savory Soiree, perfectly captured the theme, and the cookies were a big hit.

This event was both fun and beautiful. I can't praise enough the magic Lorin was able to create. There were so many thoughtful details and elements that I would love to recreate this theme all over again just to relive it. Congratulations to all the contributing vendors; this event was truly one for the books and a fantastic way to officially end the summer months!
