A Magical Venue
On Saturday, June 8th, we had the absolute pleasure of being part of Paige and Mitch’s special day at the 1840s Plaza Hotel in downtown Baltimore, MD. This unique venue, with its historic charm and timeless elegance, has always been one of our favorites. Having worked there twice before, it felt like a delightful homecoming. This time, we had the privilege of transforming the Old White Tower Diner space on the second floor—a nostalgic nook that once operated as a real diner back in the day.
The Perfect Setting
The Old White Tower Diner is a small, frozen-in-time space complete with a countertop, old bar stools, and vintage glass Coca-Cola bottles. The intimate and charming setting provided the perfect canvas for a truly unique dessert and candy bar. Given the creative freedom to go fun and colorful, we embraced the opportunity to breathe new life into the venue with a multi-colored vintage/retro theme.
Bringing the Vision to Life
Without the traditional wedding cake, our dessert and candy bar took center stage. We adorned both counters with a delightful mix of present-day favorites and nostalgic classics. Fresh donuts, mini cupcakes, Kit-Kats, Swedish Fish, Starbursts, custom cookies, and our beloved French macarons from
Mrs. Macarons provided a contemporary twist. Meanwhile, a tabletop gum ball machine, banana cream pie flavored parfait cups, candy necklaces, tutti-frutti sticks, PEZ, and candy dots transported guests back in time.
To add an extra touch of whimsy, we collaborated with our talented friend Ty from High Haven Balloons. She crafted a vintage-inspired multi-colored balloon garland that draped elegantly above the diner counter. This vibrant addition instantly breathed new life into the space, making it a feast for the eyes.
A Night to Remember
Guests flocked to the transformed diner space after dinner, reveling in the playful and colorful ambiance we had created. The lively atmosphere extended beyond the diner doors as everyone danced the night away, celebrating the joyous union of Paige and Mitch.
Reflecting on the Experience
This event allowed us to push the boundaries of our creativity, resulting in a memorable and visually stunning dessert and candy bar that delighted all in attendance. It was a joyous experience to see our vision come to life and to contribute to such a special occasion for Paige and Mitch.
Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to Paige and Mitch for trusting us with their wedding day and giving us the freedom to create something truly magical. And to the 1840s Plaza Hotel, it’s always a pleasure to work within your beautiful and historic walls. Stay tuned for more updates and behind-the-scenes looks at our future events. Until next time, keep things sweet and scrumptious!
With love,
Allison
