When it comes to weddings, every detail is essential, from the floral arrangements to the color scheme, and, of course, the dessert table. This past mid-October, I had the privilege of designing a dessert table that perfectly captured the essence of a beautiful Fall wedding. Set against the stunning backdrop of The River View in Lorton, VA, this wedding was nothing short of a dream come true.
A Beautiful Fall Day
The weather on the day of the wedding was simply perfect. A crisp, cool breeze rustled the leaves on the trees, and the warm, golden sunlight bathed the entire venue in a soft, romantic glow. It was an ideal setting for a celebration of love.
A Delicate Color Palette
The bride, Gabrielle, had meticulously coordinated every detail to create a harmonious ambiance. The color scheme was a delicate blend of lavender and sage, punctuated with touches of gold. These colors added an air of enchantment to the entire event.
Adapting to Special Dietary Needs
The wedding planning journey took an unexpected turn when the groom, Chris, discovered he had a gluten intolerance. With many guests having dietary restrictions, we needed to adapt quickly. The original dessert plans had to be reimagined to include gluten-free and vegan options. It was a challenge, but one I was more than ready to embrace. And thanks to some amazing contributing vendors the dietary needs ending up being a breeze to plan for.
The Dessert Extravaganza
The bride and groom opted for a diverse array of sweets rather than a traditional wedding cake. The dessert table was a true feast for the senses, featuring a delightful assortment of treats:
Cookie and Cream Malted Milk Balls: A classic favorite with a hint of nostalgia.
Hershey Nuggets: Rich, velvety chocolate goodness.
Raspberry Yogurt Pretzels: Sweet, tangy, and perfectly crunchy.
Reese Cups: A timeless crowd-pleaser.
Vegan Vanilla Cupcakes: Light, fluffy, and dairy-free.
Purple Velvet Gluten-Free Cupcakes: A gluten-free twist on the classic red velvet.
Gluten-Free Cookie Dough Cake Pops: Irresistible bites of cookie dough heaven.
Cannolis: A taste of Italy with a delicate pastry shell and creamy filling.
Custom French Macarons with Gold Leaf Details: A touch of elegance with a hint of gold.
Custom Iced Cookies: These delightful cookies were adorned with designs that mirrored the wedding invitations, adding a personalized touch to the dessert table.
And so much more!!!
Celebrating Love, Creativity, and Dietary Diversity
The lavender and sage dessert table was not only a feast for the taste buds but also a visual masterpiece. The colors and textures seamlessly blended into the overall presentation, creating an inviting and unforgettable display.
This wedding proved that dietary restrictions should never hinder you from having a stunning dessert spread at your celebration. The bride and groom's choice to diversify their dessert selection, accommodating different dietary needs, not only pleased the palate but also highlighted their journey and commitment to embracing life's unexpected twists with grace and creativity.
In the end, this Fall wedding at The River View in Lorton, VA was filled with love, laughter, and the sweetest of memories. The lavender and sage dessert table was a true highlight, demonstrating that love can conquer all obstacles, and creativity can turn challenges into opportunities for sweetness and delight. I absolutely adored working with Gabrielle and Chris and wish them the brightest (and sweetest) future together in their new life together.
